Country Utilities highlights the foundation of country music: strings. Tulsa, Oklahoma artist Travis Linville pulled inspiration from The Bakersfield Sound’s focus on electric guitars, driving backbeats, and small injections of psychedelic rock n’ roll to lay down pedal steel, lapsteel, dobro, banjo, and various guitar sounds. A sought-after collaborator, Linville’s touring instrumental work includes onstage performances with Samantha Crain and Hayes Carll and session work with the likes of gifted American songwriter John Moreland and indie rock stalwart Berwanger. In recent years, he’s performed his own music as hand-selected support for Carll, fellow Oklahomans Moreland and Parker Millsap, Todd Snider’s Hard Working Americans, and even country legend Marty Stuart.
