Montage’s New Frontier: Modern Western sample pack draws inspiration from a blend of classic Western film scores, contemporary country, and a variety of modern genres that have taken the sounds of the American West into new territory. At its core, the pack pays homage to iconic Western themes – think Ennio Morricone’s sweeping, atmospheric orchestrations and the twangy, baritone guitar work that defines the genre. However, it also looks forward, incorporating elements from alt-country, folk rock, and even electronic music to give it a fresh, multifaceted appeal. The result is a sound that evokes both nostalgia for the wide-open landscapes of old Westerns, while simultaneously capturing the energy and grit of today’s pop country crossover.
Crafted by LA based producer and composer Carl Thomson, the Modern Western sample pack spans a range of textures, from the shimmering, cinematic strings and spacious reverb of desert landscapes to the hard-edged, punchy basslines that anchor modern takes on the genre. You’ll hear dusty, lo-fi elements reminiscent of classic folk tunes, mixed with dark, evolving synth pads that evoke a more atmospheric dramatic vibe.
